Several ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥-area youth baseball and softball teams remain in contention for World Series berths.
Thornydale is set to face Live Oak of Northern California in the at 6 p.m. Wednesday in San Bernardino, California. Thornydale and Live Oak are the only remaining unbeaten teams in the field. The game is being streamed on ESPN+.

The winner will advance to the championship game Friday. The loser will play in an elimination game Thursday against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Honolulu (Hawaii) and Westchester-Del Rey (Southern California).
Thornydale already has notched wins against both of those teams, defeating Honolulu 9-6 and Westchester-Del Rey 8-2. Kenzie Scott started both games for Thornydale, allowing four earned runs in 11 2/3 innings. Scott also has a team-high five RBIs in the West Region tournament.

American Legion Post 7, consisting of players from ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ High School, advanced to the for the fourth straight year after sweeping Post 73 (Sunnyside) in the ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ American Legion State Tournament finals Monday night.
The Post 7 Moondogs lost the tournament opener to Post 132 (Flowing Wells) before winning five consecutive elimination games. ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ needed to beat Sunnyside twice to advance and did so via scores of 7-0 and 8-7 at Vista Grande High School in Casa Grande.
ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ opens play in the Western Regional Tournament in Fairfield, California, on Aug. 6. The winner of the eight-team, double-elimination regional tourney advances to the Aug. 14-19 American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina.
Sunnyside’s Little League Juniors are vying for a World Series berth in the Junior League Baseball West Region Tournament in Bend, Oregon. Sunnyside opens West Region play at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The West Region Tournament features 14 teams and runs through July 31. The Junior League Baseball World Series is slated for Aug. 3-10 in Taylor, Michigan.
In the Intermediate (50/70) West Region Tournament, host Nogales was set to face Dimond-West (Alaska) in the quarterfinals Tuesday night. The 50/70 West Region finals are scheduled for Thursday morning. The Intermediate World Series is July 27-Aug. 3 in Livermore, California.
In Senior League baseball, state champion Douglas advanced to the semifinals of the West Region Tournament in Oakland, California. Douglas was eliminated by Pearl City (Hawaii) on Monday.
