In his remarkable football career that began in 2007 at Canyon del Oro High School, running back Ka’Deem Carey has been as much a survivor as a record-setter.
After leaving ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ as the school’s career rushing leader in 2013 (4,239 yards rushing), Carey played four years in the NFL. But he reinvented himself in the Canadian Football League, rushing for more than 1,000 yards in 2022 and 2024 as he became a two-time All-Star and Grey Cup champion for Calgary and Toronto.

Alas, now 32, Carey was released by the Toronto Argonauts on June 1. A few weeks later, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed him to their practice squad. He has been limited to five carries and 28 yards in five games listed as a third-string running back.
Unfortunately, Carey appeared to suffer a serious knee injury in Saturday's night game and was carried off the field.

Carey has been running the football for 18 years, which is longevity times two in football. He gained 5,701 yards as a CDO state champion, 4,239 at ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥, 443 in the NFL and now 3,915 in the CFL. That’s 14,298 yards. That’s a lot of hits for anyone’s body.
Carey was a consensus All-American at ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥ in 2012 and 2013. He is due for induction into the UA Sports Hall of Fame after his last carry, whenever that may be.
