Grok 4 Launch Prompts Scrutiny as Users Note It References Elon Musk鈥檚 Views on Controversial Topics
Elon Musk鈥檚 xAI launched its new Grok 4 chatbot on Wednesday, drawing immediate scrutiny after CNBC found it referenced Musk鈥檚 views when responding to controversial questions. When asked for a one-word stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, Grok 4 searched the web and Musk鈥檚 posts on X before answering. In another example, the bot endorsed New York Republican Curtis Sliwa for mayor, citing concerns 鈥渇requently raised by Elon Musk.鈥 Grok 3, by contrast, took a neutral stance in similar scenarios. While xAI describes Grok as 鈥渁nti-woke鈥 and 鈥渕aximally truth-seeking,鈥 the launch follows backlash over Grok 3鈥檚 antisemitic responses and random mentions of 鈥渨hite genocide.鈥 xAI has not commented. Still, the company said it鈥檚 working to limit hate speech.聽
