Two recent letters to the editor regarding Israel and American Jews did not meet The ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥â€™s standards and have been removed.
While the Star encourages a wide spectrum of views on its Opinion pages, these two letters repeated offensive antisemitic tropes that have no place in the discourse.
While we tend toward inclusion of even sharply controversial views, we cannot countenance what amounts to hate speech aimed at any specific religion or group of people. We erred in the letters’ publication, and therefore have taken the extraordinarily unusual step of removing them.
We apologize to readers who were offended by the letters’ appearance in the Star.
