A second man has died following an explosion and fire that tore through a property on ÃÛèÖÖ±²¥â€™s south side Monday afternoon.
The deadly blaze that occurred about 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 3000 block of East Benson Highway, near South Country Club Road, still is being investigated. Two additional people who were inside the home were injured.
Emergency crews went to the apartment after reports of multiple explosions and a fire from one of the residences.
Nearby homes were quickly evacuated as firefighters worked the scene, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said.
Four people were inside the home when the explosions occurred, a news release has said. All four were taken to a hospital.
William Breyer, 58, died of his injuries later in the day, the sheriff’s department said.

On Wednesday, deputies said a second person, Lawrence Lee Stratch, Jr., also had died.
There was no update Wednesday on the other two people injured in the fire.
