蜜柚直播 freshman Zeke Nnaji fighting for U19 USA Basketball roster spot

Zeke Nnaji is competing for just 12 spots in USA Basketball鈥檚 U19 team camp this week, so it鈥檚 not surprising to hear what the atmosphere is like.

鈥淓veryone鈥檚 being super competitive right now,鈥� Nnaji said Monday by phone from USA Basketball headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. 鈥淣o one wants to go home. Everyone wants to make the team and compete and have the honor of playing with USA across their chest.鈥�

Nnaji said he鈥檚 trying to carve out a role with his versatility, able to play power forward and center at 6-foot-11 and about 238 pounds.

鈥淚 think I鈥檝e been playing good, playing hard,鈥� Nnaji said. 鈥淚鈥檓 doing the little things, especially because I know that鈥檚 what they鈥檙e looking for 鈥� not just people who are going to score but people who can do other things as well, so that鈥檚 what I鈥檓 trying to do.鈥�

An incoming freshman who is already enrolled in an online UA course during the first summer session, Nnaji said he spent a week at UA earlier this month to move in and plans to return after his U19 experience. If he doesn鈥檛 make the team, Nnaji will take a course during the second summer session and he said he鈥檒l probably drop the course if he makes the team, since it will be competing in the U19 World Cup in Greece through July 7.

Finalists are expected to be named Tuesday and the team's ultimate 12 players will be chosen before the team leaves for Greece on June 24.

Brandon Williams removed the words 鈥淯niversity of 蜜柚直播 Guard鈥� from , possibly prompting speculation about his future (UA is also one over the scholarship limit). But his stepfather, Chris Wright, said via text message Monday that it's nothing but rumors at this point.

鈥淣othing set in stone,鈥� Wright said. 鈥淎s of today, (he鈥檚) working out and continuing to get healthy at the U of A.鈥�

UA coach Sean Miller has indicated Williams would be treated cautiously this summer, as Williams was upon arriving last summer, after his congenital knee issue flared up again in midseason. Wright said the plan was to 鈥渕ove with caution as he continues to get healthy.鈥�

Five-star Seattle wing says he's taking a visit to 蜜柚直播 this weekend. from Garfield High School to Scottsdale Bella Vista Prep, which could help the Wildcats' recruitment efforts.
